How Discover your Superpower
January 30, 2024Your Ultimate Dubai Visa Guide: Unlocking the Emirates
February 17, 2024If you’re a UAE resident, having an Emirates ID is a legal requirement, serving as a crucial document issued by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship to both citizens and residents. Packed with essential information on its electronic chip, such as biometric data and a photo, this card is not just an identification tool but also offers practical benefits, from cash withdrawals to fuel payments.
However, life happens, and misplacing your Emirates ID is not uncommon. The good news is that replacing it is a straightforward process, ensuring you can continue to enjoy its numerous conveniences. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you smoothly obtain a new Emirates ID.
How to replace a lost Emirates ID in Dubai:
Step 1: Report the Loss and Deactivate Your Card
The first crucial step is to visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre to report the loss of your card and have it deactivated. Make sure to obtain an ID number confirmation and a copy of the lost ID for your records.
Step 2: Prepare Your Identification
For UAE nationals, have your original valid passport and family book ready. GCC nationals should provide a document confirming their residency in the UAE, while expats need their original passport stamped with a valid residency permit.
Step 3: Fill out the Application Form
Using the convenient UAE ICP app, fill in the application form for your new Emirates ID. The user-friendly interface makes this step a breeze.
Step 4: Pay the Replacement Fees
To get your replacement card, pay the required fees – Dhs300 for the new card, with an additional Dhs40 for online applications. If you opt for express services, there’s an extra Dhs150 fee for quicker processing.
Step 5: Await Confirmation and Delivery
Once you’ve submitted your replacement request, patiently wait for a text message from ICP revealing the delivery date of your new card. Typically, this will be within 48 hours, or within 24 hours if you’ve chosen express service.
Step 6: Coordinate Delivery with Emirates Post
Contact Emirates Post to arrange the delivery of your replacement card. Ensure a smooth and timely delivery process to have your new Emirates ID back in your hands.
