Excitement is in the air as Sharjah gears up for the much-awaited 13th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival (SLF), set to kick off today, Wednesday, 7th February, under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), this 12-day extravaganza, running until February 18th, promises to mesmerize audiences with breathtaking light displays inspired by Sharjah’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty.
Using cutting-edge, energy-efficient lighting technologies, the festival invites everyone to immerse themselves in the luminous performances from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM daily, extending until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Over 15 international artists will showcase their talent through these captivating light shows, illuminating 12 of Sharjah’s top tourist, cultural, and natural landmarks. This year, three new destinations join the lineup: the Sharjah Police Headquarters, the General Souq – Al Hamriyah, and the Kalba Waterfront. From Khalid Lagoon to Al Rafisah Dam, each location has been carefully selected to showcase the emirate’s diversity and rich heritage.
The SCTDA aims to highlight Sharjah’s multifaceted identity through these illuminating displays, from historical monuments like Al Dhaid Fort to modern marvels like the BEEAH Group Headquarters. These light shows not only celebrate Sharjah’s past but also its future as a hub of innovation and cultural exchange.
Every year, the Sharjah Light Festival draws hundreds of thousands of visitors, offering them a chance to experience the magic of light, music, and artistry. Last year’s edition alone welcomed nearly 1.3 million visitors, including 189,000 who explored the enchanting Light Village.
